I happened to find the Japanese translation of the above sentence. That was really cool for me and I asked who the author is, and then found out that it was quoted from an essay, written by Arthur Schopenhauer, the famous German philosopher of the beginning of the nineteenth century. To be honest, the Japanese one is a little bit more emotionally appealing. The English version sounds....too direct.
