Yen town - Swallowtail Butterfly in 1996

Do you remember the movie "Swallowtail"? It is Shunji Iwai's movie from 1996. It was on TV here in Finland. It has the taste of the 1990's(good days, I almost hadn't yet come out to the real world!). He made up the world in it, which is as the same in the other his work. Although it was my second time watching it, my impression is....how to say...SETSUNAI in Japanese. I don't know what the equivalent word is in English. In the movie I saw lots of actors and actresses who were still young and are now major players in Japanese movies. Yes, it might be a kind of nostalgic, touching Japanese works outside of Japan strikes me more strongly than in Japan and I feel somewhat proud of my being a Japanese, who could do such a great job. And it reminds me of another work of his, "All about Lily chou chou", which is much more provocative. I have to watch it again.....In art, I guess, Japanese may have some kind of specific abilities and I hope that such good works would be more known all over the world and more people would love them.

BTW, Today is my father's birthday. Although I cannot do anything for him, I hope that he has had a good time so far and so on.
